Bee Hotel, Jury’s Inn, Manchester

The bee is a symbol of Manchester – in the 1800’s the city’s textile mills were coined at being a “hive of activity,” and the workers “busy bees” and the hardworking bee has continued to symbolise the ever-growing city. There are no less than seven bees on the city coat of arms. Bees can be found everywhere across the city – from dustbins to clockfaces and most recently, tattooed on hundreds of people as a sign of solidarity with the victims of the Manchester bombing.

As part of the Jury’s Inn £2.9m refurbishment, we were only too happy to design and build them a Bee Hotel to provide some shelter for their tiny guests.
